The City of Heidelberg

Amidst the woody hills of Königstuhl and Heiligenberg, Heidelberg is spread out along the river Neckar, in the South west of Germany. The panorama of the city is dominated by the famous castle ruin, situated on the steep Königstuhl above the old town of Heidelberg. As the city escaped bombing during the 2nd World War, most of the baroque buildings remain, and Heidelberg preserved the character of a medieval town. This is part of the attractiveness which draws appr. three million tourists from all over the world to Heidelberg each year.

Besides the town's beautiful natural setting and its historic sights, Heidelberg offers its visitors numerous leisure activities such as cinemas, theatres, concerts, museums, cabaret and countless student bars.
