Student Life

Sports

All students are encouraged to take part in the sporting activities organised by the university. The sports faculty publicises the sporting activities on offer at the beginning of every semester. The brochure is available at the entrance of the Central Administration Building (where the Akademisches Auslandsamt is located), the Info-Center or in the Institut für Sportwissenschaft, Im Neuenheimer Feld 700. Alternately, this information can be accessed on the internet at http://www.issw.uni-heidelberg.de/hsp.

Music, Drama, Art and Excursions

Heidelberg University offers all students a great number of opportunities to develop their artistic creativity.

The Institut für Deutsch als Fremdsprachenphilologie runs a one-year theatre seminar that offers a basic course in acting in addition to putting on plays. The English Department drama group would particularly welcome native speakers interested in acting. Full details of all the activities on offer, such as choirs, orchestra, painting and drawing classes, etc. can be found in the Vorlesungsverzeichnis.

Every semester, the Auslandsamt offers a range of interesting and moderately priced trips to well-known places in Germany such as Bamberg, Berlin, Nürnberg, Köln and Freiburg. Students are able to explore the wide array of beauty and culture that Germany has to offer. Trips normally take place at the weekend. The full programme of excursions is available from Room 33 of the Akademische Auslandsamt or from our homepage at http://www.uni-heidelberg.de/studium/kontakt/auslandsamt/aaa_angebote.html.

Student Religious Associations

There are a number of religious groups at the university through which students can meet, practice and discuss their faiths. The activities of the student groups are announced by way of posters, leaflets and semester brochures.
